To be fully transparent, I believe that the times that I have remained stuck were the times that I believed that "with my expertise in science and the Bible, I can "fix" myself". I rationalize, "I am good at helping others surely I can help myself. I got this!" But as a dear friend lovingly reminded me as I became more and more unraveled, "Surgeons can't do surgery on themselves." Please do not follow my example - help is within your reach. We can journey forward together to the other side of your grief.

I DO NOT HAVE GRIEF OR
I AM GOOD I HAVE DEALT WITH GRIEF IN MY OWN WAY....
Well, first let's define grief. Grief as defined by the Grief Recovery Institute® is the natural and normal response to loss of any kind, not just death. That is, when something we are familiar with ends or changes, the emotional response we experience is grief. This is healthy and normal.
We all grieve. Unfortunately, we are not taught to think in terms of the human experience involved. Instead we dehumanize one another (even ourselves) with labels and judgements and stay stuck with the emotional pain of an experience. We either think it is normal to do so or usually because of the stigma we choose to "Be strong" and pretend all is well and forge forward wounded. BUT when grief is left unattended in any setting whether personal or business, it piles up and morphs into unresolved/unfinished emotional pain, becoming unhealthy, toxic and costly to individuals and to society as a whole.
In my work with the Grief Recovery Method® (GRM) and Spiritual Renewal PPE, it is not only about journeying with people that have experienced the death of a loved one but it includes many different types of grieving experiences like Divorce, Moving, Illness (self or a relative), Pet Loss and more. Many people presume grief is only related to death. Yet, there are over 40 grieving experiences we may face in our lifetime. And this does not even include how the COVID pandemic has affected our lives.
Also, grief is cumulative and cumulative negative. In other words, the longer you take to address it, the worse it gets.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I OR SOMEONE I KNOW HAS UNIFINISHED-UNRESOLVED LOSS AND PAIN?
Unresolved grief is manifested in varying types of addictions, health and mental issues, eating and sleeps disorders, relational difficulties, job performance difficulties and a whole gamut of issues. And if there are children involved, they will only mimic what we model in dealing with loss. Other queues of unresolved grief and loss may include:

And if there are children involved, they will only mimic what we model in dealing with loss. Other queues of unresolved grief and loss may include:
- If you are unwilling to think about or talk about someone who has died, or express feelings about any other losses.
- If fond memories turn painful, you may be experiencing unresolved Grief.
- If you want to talk only about the positive aspects of the relationship, you may be incomplete.
- Wanting to talk about only the negative aspects of the relationship, might be unresolved Grief.
- Unresolved Grief may be at the root of any fear associated with thoughts or feelings about a relationship.
- Detachment and isolation from family, friends and coworkers may indicate your heart may be hurting and needs attention.
NO ONE HAS DIED OR WE ARE A BUSINESS, HOW WILL THIS GRIEF RECOVERY PROGRAM HELP?
Grief is all around us. Yet, we can immediately mislabel grief as stress, anxiety, burnout, being overwhelmed, PTSD and/or depression. However, research shows that we could experience 40+ grieving experiences in our lifetime.
And with the pandemic, just about everything we were “familiar with”, has changed completely. Yet, most of us would not use the word “grief” to explain the way we feel about the different type of losses we may be experiencing (IN ADDITION to death) like loss of health, loss of job or under-employment, divorce, moves, pet loss, new school, virtual learning or virtual work or the ones reported by the daily news like: increased violence, abuse, suicides, depression, unemployment, poor academic and job performance, businesses closures or company restructuring or losses caused by natural disasters or crisis.
Do any of those losses resonate with you? Is your workforce experiencing or has experienced any of these type of losses?
So who are IOIH services for? Every single one of us, individual or business. Become Grief-Informed and help your workforce flourish despite personal loss.

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH TO THERAPY?
Thank you for asking. Inside Out Integrative Health (IOIH) uses a two-prong collaborative approaches to overcome challenging life experiences that we believe at the core is grief. We utilize the evidence-based approach, the Grief Recovery Method® in affiliation with the Grief Recovery Institute and the practice-based Spiritual Renewal PPE™ (SRPPE) tools, acquired from a variety of sources and trainings.
While our services have therapeutic benefits, they are educational approaches to healing. Higinia has her certification as an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Institute. IOIH's services compliment therapeutical services very well but are very effective as stand alone approaches to overcoming challenging life experiences. The services can apply faith-based principles or not, depending on the client's preferences.
In addition, Higinia is one of a handful, selected from thousands of Specialists around the world to deliver this program online. She has been through additional training to offer this online format. She also has specialty trainings in Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Overcomers Program, Trauma Informed Care, Youth Mental Health First Aid USA, Helping Without Hurting Training, Critical Incident Stress Management, Crisis Intervention for Mass Incidents, served as a Subject Matter Expert in the Public Health Improvement Plan for the Bexar County Health Collaborative, Freedom Prayer and hundreds of hours of spiritual renewal training. This experience has been impactful in my ability and compassion to reach and help many.
She actively engages in trainings for her continued healing journey and continued professional education, working hard to refine her professional skills to best serve you. She maintains a current understanding of trends, research, and influences that can impact your recovery journey.

DO YOU WORK WITH COUPLES OR FAMILIES?
Yes, we do. However, the effectiveness of the program depends on individuals being able to share without any inhibition. We meet with each person individually in person or virtually. If it is a family group, we would partner each family member with other individuals not in the family, even if the family feels "super close and know everything about each other". Grief Recovery is an individual journey of healing and is most effective when we can be truly open and transparent.
DO YOU WORK WITH CHILDREN?
Yes, but not directly. GRM and SRPPE are adult programs, for individuals 18 and older. With children 17 years and younger, we offer "Helping Children with Loss" for parents or caretakers, teachers, case or ministry youth workers, grandparents, etc. The caretakers are equipped to help the youth in their care to work through current grief or learn the skills and tools to deal with future losses.
