Our Core Values

COMPASSION AND WELL-BEING

We do not overpromise. We do not sensationalize pain. We practice what we teach.

Compassion is the hallmark ingredient IOIH offers to healing. Compassion is showing sensitivity, empathy and care to those suffering and in need around us. Yet, compassion must first start with self to care for the wounds and pain of your heart then we can care for the wounds and pain of others. If we do not follow this order, we will experience Empathy-Fatigue (Empathic Distress - as Dr. J. Halifax, renowned Buddhist Teacher calls it rather than
Compassion-Fatigue). Our hope is that we never lose the compassion for our humanity - the concern, kindness, positive emotions, connection to the plight of those experiencing grief and loss.

IOIH's goal is to help individuals and businesses achieve wholesome living. We offer integrative well-being solutions that are cross-functional to include all aspects of a person - Body, Soul and Spirit. We address root causes, not just symptoms.
RESPONSIBILITY/ACCOUNTABILITY/STEWARDSHIP
Healing requires ownership. We equip individuals to respond, not react.

You, your time and your investment matters. Successfully achieving recovery requires your commitment to put your health as a priority. We see this through your regular attendance, completion of heartwork assignments, in-class participation and honoring program guidelines, especially if working in a group setting.

While IOIH does not offer "intervention" services, that is, we do not make anyone take the programs we offer involuntarily or make you do your heartwork, we are committed to seeing you experience this life-giving opportunity to overcome your emotional pain and begin to enjoy life fully at your optimal best.

And after our time is completed, you commit to continue to grow in your healing journey.

COURAGE-GROWTH
We create space for truth without shame.

Taking steps forward will require great courage. While it will not be easy. It will be worth it. Healing and growth is a spiral process. That is, you may feel you are not making much progress or "just going in circles" but stand firm, be reassured that you are moving forward.

Continue with great courage. You will be amazed as you change your thinking, shift your beliefs, take the right actions and see your emotional pain and limiting beliefs begin to disappear.

COLLABORATION
We complement — clinical, medical, pastoral, and community supports. IOIH does not replace other supports; it strengthens their effectiveness.
CULTURE OF TRUST/INTEGRITY AND HONOR
Only you know how you feel. We will not tell you how you feel. Others opinions do not contribute to your
well-being. We foster a climate that maximizes your individuality and dignity.

The safety of this program and the safety of your recovery depends upon adherence to absolute confidentiality. Your privacy and confidentiality is our top priority.

For these programs, trust is also built when we commit not to compare losses, analyze, criticize or make judgments or give unsolicited advice to self or others. When we grieve, we experience grief at 100%.

We honor where you are at in your healing journey and ask you extend the same understanding and compassion towards fellow sojourners, and even those that haven't recognize they are grieving.
TRUTH/AUTHENTICITY
To achieve emotional completion one must share the complete emotional truth, that is, total honesty. You will achieve healing to the degree you are completely honest and vulnerable about your emotional pain, not the details of your experience but the emotional pain of that experience. We do not "enshrine", that is, choose to only speak of the positive of an experience and we do not "bedevil" the experience, choosing only to speak of the negative. We speak the whole truth of a relationship or experience. Both positive and negative experiences are ingredients of any relationship  or situation.

And we do not use humor to cover up pain.
FAITHFULNESS
We believe restoration aligns with God’s design for wholeness and maturity.

While our programs are practical, research-supported, and accessible to individuals from diverse backgrounds, our foundation reflects a Christian worldview. Yet, we do not force belief and we do not dilute conviction.

We believe:

• Healing involves renewal of the mind and restoration of the heart.
• Personal responsibility restores dignity.
• Emotional maturity reflects spiritual formation.

For those who desire it, biblical integration and Christ-centered perspective are welcomed within the work.

We believe Wholeness aligns with God's design.
