First Thing First: Understanding what is Grief?
Your heart may be broken, unsettled, in despair or even numb but YOU are not broken. Grief is normal and natural. Emotional pain is a human experience we all share. When something familiar ends or changes (regardless of its benefit), we experience and emotional response or pain. This is GRIEF.
However, Grief shows up in ways we did not expect so often we don't recognize we are grieving, we ignore it or intentionally suppress it. When we take any action other than moving through the pain-and into peace, it could lead to genuine mood and major depressive disorders or other vices. The sad truth is we have allowed our culture and society to condition us to intellectualize, rationalize or spiritualize our painful emotions in order to survive and fit in. Yet, Grief is not intellectual. Even as believers, we often bury grief behind prayer and perseverance. We just end up stuck with the pain. Yet, it resurfaces in our health, our families, and our joy.
It is rare people will self-qualify themselves as "a griever", especially for any loss other than death. Yet, research shows that in our lifetime we can face 42+ grieving experiences that can adversely impact our life (Social Readjustment Rating Scale, Holmes TH, Rahe RH, 1967). And this does not include all the loss and changes that COVID brought into our lives. COVID left everyone in uncharted territory with Behavioral/Mental Health at center stage.
Whether you are dealing with death, relationship struggles, past trauma, life transitions, burnout or silent sadness you can't explain-IOIH meets you where you are.

The program helped me navigate through feelings I was experiencing and helped me uncover feelings I was not considering or recognizing. Could not have processed so much in 8 weeks without the program facilitator's guidance. Helped me see that the cloud of sadness would not be a forever thing if I worked through my thoughts and pain in the way the program guided me. Thankful that such a program is available."~
